The highlights from a fantastic year at Dream Yacht Charter
We’ve had a fantastic year here at Dream Yacht Charter UK with so much to celebrate. As we enter 2020 and prepare for more exciting adventures, we wanted to take a look at our highlights from what has been an amazing 2019.
2019 saw a significant investment in the Dream Yacht Charter fleet worldwide, with the arrival of 228 yachts by the end of the year, taking our total number available for charter to 1200+ – and we have even more arriving in 2020! Arrivals to our fleet in the Caribbean included five Jeanneau Sun Loft 47 monocats, ideal for attracting a younger customer age profile to sailing holidays. We have already committed to 195 yachts for delivery in 2020, of which 112 yachts will be delivered in the first half of 2020. The Mediterranean will benefit from an additional 83 yachts in the first six months of next year, 25 of which will be Sun Loft 47s.
In the UK, we welcomed a brand new Dufour 460 GL to our fleet in Port Hamble Marina in February. This beautiful five berth monohull can sleep up to 12 guests, making her the perfect vessel to explore the south coast of England with friends and family. In honour of our charity partner, Oarsome Chance, the yacht was christened ‘Oarsome Dream’ at a special ceremony held at Haslar Marina, with Dream Yacht Charter brand ambassador and UK master yachtsman Alex Thomson officially naming her. In addition to Oarsome Dream, we also saw the arrival of a brand new Dufour 430 GL and a Jeanneau Merry Fisher 795 which is available for use in our Dream Boat Club.
2019 saw the launch of five fantastic new bases, cementing our position as the leading yacht charter company in the world, offering more destinations than anyone else. Our new bases include;
- BR Marina Paraty in Brazil
- San Blas Islands in Panama
- Plattsbugh City Marina in Lake Champlain, New York
- Christie’s Landing Marina in Newport, Rhode Island
- Marina Minimes in La Rochelle.
The introduction of these new bases further increases the number of by the cabin locations available. We have more destinations for these guaranteed departure charters than any other brand, meaning customers who are unable to sail themselves or who just want to sit back and relax can see even more of the world.
Our portfolio of destinations now stands at 60+ and we cannot wait to see what 2020 brings.
We’ve also spent 2019 listening to our customers to find out how we can help them plan the perfect worldwide yacht charter. As a result, we have started creating a range of complete sailing guides to showcase each of our bases, including Antigua and the Bahamas, with lots more planned for 2020.
An exciting first year with our charity partner, Oarsome Chance
During the 2018 Southampton Boat Show, we announced a new charity partnership with Hampshire based Oarsome Chance. The charity exist to assist children and young adults, who have, for whatever reason, been disengaged from traditional mainstream education, by providing apprenticeships and developing programmes to benefit future employment prospects through practical, vocational education and sport.
The charity have joined us at a number of events during 2019, making rope bracelets for our customers at the Southampton Boat Show and assisting us in the commissioning of our new Dufour 460 GL, Oarsome Dream in February. Thanks to such a successful partnership, we are delighted that our sister company, Britannia Corporate Events have also named Oarsome Chance their charity for 2020, with all money raised throughout the year at various sailing days and regattas being donated to them. We hope they enjoy as much success as we have and wish all at Oarsome Chance a happy and prosperous New Year.

Boat shows and regattas old and new
2019 saw us attending boat shows old and new – and what amazing experiences they were! In August, we were delighted to make our debut appearance as sponsors of the Dartmouth Royal Regatta along with our sister company, Fairview Sailing, and in September, we headed back to Ocean Hall for the UK’s biggest marine event, the Southampton Boat Show, where we met existing and potential new charter customers and yacht owners. While there, we had the pleasure of a visit from the Grenada Tourism Authority who shared some amazing hints and tips on how to enjoy a yacht charter to Grenada with us and also welcomed our friends from the British Virgin Island Tourist Board who entertained visitors with exceptional cocktail making skills and big smiles!
Antigua Sailing Week also came to see us, answering any questions and giving their top tips to those who love the racing side of sailing in warmer climes! We were also joined by our partners, Salcombe Gin, who were on hand to offer refreshing gin and tonics to those who came to find out more about Dream Yacht Charter and hosted a special Q&A session with Olympic hopefuls Hannah Mills and Eilidh McIntyre.
Prior to the Southampton Boat Show, we were delighted to support Antigua Sailing Week’s ‘Road to 2020’ campaign, which saw teams competing in three regattas around the world, all fighting it out to win a coveted place in the 2020 Antigua Sailing Week. In the UK, teams participating in the Royal Southern Summer Series regatta, organised by the Royal Southern Yacht Club, all had the chance to win one of the three very special places and we were thrilled to be part of the event, providing bareboat charters to each of the winners. Congratulations to Blair & Beckett’s King 40 Cobra, who received the UK’s inclusive entry for seven people to the 2020 edition of Antigua Sailing on April 25 – May 01. We’ll be rooting for you.
In October, we made our debut in Kip Marina at Scotland’s Boat Show, where the weather was not on our side but the people braved the elements to come and say hello! As the only worldwide charter company in attendance, we enjoyed showing guests the different types of charters available and discussing yacht ownership programmes. We look forward to returning in 2020, when the show will celebrate the first ever River of Light festival.
