An emotional return to the British Virgin Islands

Caribbean

The islanders have been working hard in the British Virgin Islands preparing for the return of tourists and sailors. The efforts are being rewarded, as visitors are returning and enjoying their holidays, as shown in the heartwarming comments below that we’ve had back from those who chartered recently.

Feeling a sense of pride

Ginny from the BVI Tourist Board enjoyed an all-inclusive by the cabin charter with us in the BVI  recently and said: “I have just returned from three weeks in the BVI. As it was my first trip following Hurricane Irma, I was prepared for it to be very emotional. However the only emotion was the pride I felt for our people with regard to how much they have achieved in such a short time, as well as their resilience and determination.

“I had the most wonderful time on the by the cabin charter and sailing is back in full flow with marinas, bars, restaurants, snorkelling and diving thriving. A few hotels and villas have opened with many more scheduled over the next six months. I visited the Ciboney School and a smiling, five year old girl proudly told me, ‘We are having a new school as our old one got broken.’ Their new strong buildings are scheduled to be finished by the end of August and many of the 80% of roofs that were taken have been replaced.”

Exquisite meals on board

Peter Ward also enjoyed a BVI by the cabin charter holiday and said: “My trip greatly exceeded my expectations and the catamaran was surprisingly spacious and comfortable. The meals were exquisite and Ina, our chef, was a magician. How she was able to create such amazing, top restaurant quality meals in the galley for us was remarkable.

“Damien, our  captain, was a true professional and showed good character and a sense of humour adding to the enjoyment. I have no hesitation in recommending the BVI and a by the cabin charter.”

The return of Willy T

We’re pleased to hear that an iconic part of the BVI is back in business. The infamous cocktail bar and platform for late night shenanigans, Willy T, has found a new home on Peter Island. They posted on their Facebook page: “Sooo, when are you all going to come see us over at Great Harbour on Peter Island??!! This is our new home!! It’s been too long…” They’ve been missed by the sailing community and it’s great they are back.
